Science Club at the Murrieta Meeting & Resource Center

THE GOAL:
To have fun with science!
THE PLAN
- Work on your project at home. Test a few models to see which one work the best.
- Follow the written instructions and watch the video to see the Egg Drop in action!
- Come to the club and join in the fun by competing against fellow students.
- If you don’t have a project to bring in, feel free to come and visit!
In May, all 5 clubs (from 3 counties!) will meet together and compete against each other. Written instructions for all projects can be found on the JCS Parent Wiki, under K8 science.
THE BREAKDOWN:
All activities will be located at the Murrieta Meeting & Resource Center
- November 7, 10:00-11:30 a.m.
Egg Drop
Can you cushion a raw egg to keep it from breaking if it’s dropped from 10 feet? How about 20 feet? Experiment and see! - December 5, 10:00-11:30 a.m.
Tin Can Racers
These little machines are simple, but fast! Will yours be the fastest? - February 6, 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
Paddle Boats
Using the power of a rubber band, will your boat be able to go the distance? - March 6 TBA
- April 10, 10:00-11:30 a.m.
Review, practice and determine teams! - May 15
Field Day!
All teams come together at Murrieta Meeting Center to compete!
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
All Julian Charter School students, grades 3-8 are eligible to compete. You don’t have to come to every club, but the more you can come, the more you can compete! We will have two grade categories: 3-5, and 6-8.
