High School Varsity basketball games are scheduled to begin Friday, January 16 at the Rancho Bernardo Recreation Center Gymnasium. Participating sites include Alpine, Murrieta, North County, and San Diego. If you are a high school student and would like to partciipate, please contact the closest academy coordinator.
Murrieta Hawks Win Flag Football Championship!

The 2ND Annual JCS Bowl saw the Murrieta Hawks (5-2) play nearly flawless football as they defeated the Alpine Coyotes (4-2-1) by the score of 20 to 0 on a warm Friday afternoon in Rancho Bernardo. The Hawks scored on their first possession on a perfectly executed long throw and catch that covered 50 yards. The Hawks went up 13 to 0 in the first half with another 50 yard strike, with most of the yards coming on some great open field running. The Hawks put the game away in the second half with another 50 yard pass play, again on a short throw and long run. The Hawks defense was equally spectacular as they held the Coyotes in check for the entire contest.

On Thursday, the San Diego Middle School Jaguars “B” Team bested the Jaguars “A” Team by the score of 15 to 6. The “B” team was led by Micah, who continues to impress with his precise passes down the field. Imalia had a great game while catching three passes, two for point-after-touchdown scores. Nick scored his first touchdown of the season. For the “A” squad, Mark did a fine job filling in at quarterback, Thomas caught his first pass, and David caught another touchdown pass.
In Friday’s early game the Murrieta Hawks (3-1) lost their first game of the season to the Alpine Coyotes (2-1-1) by the score of 15 to 13. It was a see-saw affair, with the lead changing throughout the game. The Coyotes wrapped up the game late when they intercepted a Hawk pass.
In the late game the San Diego Jaguars (1-2-1) won their first game of the season as they defeated the Pine Valley Pumas (1-3) by the score of 14 to 6.
The two JV teams will meet again next Thursday at 12:00 p.m. at Clay Park.
Next Friday the Murrieta Hawks will play the San Diego Jaguars at 1:45 p.m. and the Pine Valley Pumas will meet the Alpine Coyotes at 2:45 p.m.
JCS Flag Football Review (10-17-08)

On Thursday, the San Diego Middle School Jaguars “A” Team (3-0) continued their winning ways as they beat the Jaguars “B” Team (0-3) by the score of 19 to 0. Congratulations to Daniyah on the “A” for catching her first pass of the season. Kudos also goes out to Michael of the “B” team for catching his first pass of the season.
In the early varsity game on Friday the Murrieta Hawks (3-0) remained unbeaten with a 20 to 8 victory over the Pine Valley Pumas (1-2).
In the late game defense was dominant as the Alpine Coyotes (1-1-1) and San Diego Jaguars (0-2-1) played to a 6 to 6 tie. What was most noticeable, other than the great defensive effort, was the way each team displayed great sportsmanship both during and after the game.
The two JV teams will meet again next Thursday at 12:30 p.m. at the Kroc.
Next Friday the undefeated Murrieta Hawks will play the once beaten Alpine Coyotes at 1:45 p.m. and the Pine Valley Pumas will meet the San Diego Jaguars at 2:45 p.m.
JCS Flag Football Review (10-10-08)

On Thursday, the two San Diego Middle School teams met for the second time in two weeks with the result being the same as the Jaguars “A” Team (2-0) beat the Jaguars “B” Team (0-2) by the score of 12 to 0. The “A” team was led by Micah’s two touchdown passes, one to Mark and the other to David. David continued to impress with his great speed and flag pulling.
The “B” team was led by Chris as he caught a beautiful 4th down 35 yard pass and had an interception.
On Friday afternoon, the Murrieta Hawks (2-0) continued their winning ways with a 28 to 19 victory over the San Diego Jaguars (0-2). Big plays were plentiful as the Hawks scored on the “offensive, defensive, and special teams” sides of the ball. The Jaguars showed some “big play“ spark of their own as they scored on a long pass the first play from scrimmage.
In the late game, defense was the name of the game as the Alpine Coyotes (1-1) edged the Pine Valley Pumas (1-1) by the score of 8 to 6. The game went down to the wire as the Pumas had an opportunity to win the game from inside the 20 yard line with less than a minute to go in the contest. The Coyotes squelched that opportunity as they picked off a pass to seal the victory.
The two JV teams will meet again next Thursday at 12:30 p.m. at the Kroc.
Next Friday has the Murrieta Hawks playing the Pine Valley Pumas at 1:45 p.m. and the Alpine Coyotes playing the San Diego Jaguars at 2:45 p.m.

JCS Flag Football - 2008 Season

The Julian Charter School Intramural Athletic League will begin its second year with flag football games starting the first week in October. The varsity (high school) program will consist of teams from San Diego, Murrieta, Alpine, and Pine Valley. The junior varsity (middle school) will consist of two teams form San Diego.
