- Is not afraid to try something new.
- Believes in making an effort to at least try.
- Might feel afraid but is still willing to act.
- Has the determination and the will to become the person they want to be.
Activities:
- Make a list of events in history that displayed courage on the parts of the people involved.
- Write down something that you are afraid of and look for ways that you can show courage to help you get past your fear.

Service Learning Ideas:
- Write or perform plays which show the character of courage displayed in the characters. Perform for a group of elementary students.
- Create a new non-competitive game that helps to develop the character of courage. Send the rules of your game to your EF to share with others.
- Conduct interviews in the community with elderly members. Record the experiences that helped them to develop the character of courage over the years. Type up your interviews and donate them to a local community center.
