CSF Application

CSF Letter for 2010-2011

What is CSF?

The California Scholarship Federation (CSF) promotes and recognizes high standards of scholarship, service, and citizenship on the part of California school students. The idea for a statewide organization to honor outstanding high school students was first proposed by Mr. Charles F. Seymour at a convention of high school principals in Oakland in 1916. Mr. Seymour was then vice-principal of National City High School in San Diego County, and in 1916 had organized a scholarship society on his campus, modeling it after one already established at Long Beach Polytechnic High School.

Criteria for Membership

1.    All eligible students must apply for membership during the enrollment period, the first four weeks of the semester. Students must apply each semester and of their own accord. Reminders will be posted on the school’s web site in the High School News section of the High School Guidance page, but ultimately it is the responsibility of the student.
2.    Students must reapply each semester during the enrollment period.
3.    Qualifying grades are 10 through 12.

  • The first four points must come from LIST I
  • The first seven points (including the four points described in A) must be from LISTS I and II.
  • The remaining points can come from LISTS I, II, or III.

6.    Students cannot use more than five courses to qualify.
