Overview of Testing for College Bound Students

The 6-digit code that should be written, by the student, on all College Board tests is 052929.
This ensures that the scores will be sent to JCS.

Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT):

The PSAT is a preliminary SAT given at high schools during two days in October each year. It gives an indication of what the SAT score might be. It is suggested for sophomores, but recommended for juniors. Juniors that take the PSAT can qualify for the National Merit Scholarship.

Julian Charter School announces the administration of the PSAT each year. We encourage your student to participate.

Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT I):

ACT Assessment:

Another aptitude test put out by American College Testing.

SAT II Subject Matter Exams:

Competitive college bound students should take the SAT II subject matter examinations. Subject matter exams should be taken at the end of the year that the student completes that particular course. Students should take the English Writing and Mathematics Examinations at the end of their Junior year. They may elect to have specific scores held and only report their best scores. Colleges generally want to see three tests: English Writing, Mathematics, and another. A score of 680 on the English Writing test satisfies the University of California’s Subject A Requirement.
