JCS runners wrap up the year with more medals at the Dos Picos 1.2 mile cross-country run in Ramona.  Jadyn Hogan took first place for the second grade girls at a time of 8:01, Kian Hogan took first place for the fourth grade boys at a time of 6:47, Ryan Din took second place for the third grade girls at a time of 7:25, and Sidney Din took second place for the fourth grade girls at a time of 7:17.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Julian Charter School, Inc., (a California Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation) intends to adopt a conflict-of-interest code (“Code”) pursuant to Government Code section 87300. Pursuant to Government Code section 87302, the Code designates Board members and employees who must disclose certain investments, income, interests in real property and business positions, and who must disqualify themselves from making or participating in the making of governmental decisions affecting those interests.

In accordance with Section 18750.1 of Title 2, Division 6, California Code of Regulations, a 45 day written comment period has been established commencing on June 1, 2012 and terminating July 15, 2012. Any interested person may present written comments concerning the proposed code no later than July 20, 2012, to Julian Charter School, Inc. at its main office at P.O. Box 2470, Julian, California, 92036. No public hearing on this matter will be held unless any interested person or his or her representative requests, no later than 15 days prior to the close of the written comment period, a public hearing.

Julian Charter School, Inc. seeks to adopt the proposed Code to include language provided by the Fair Political Practices Commission and to incorporate by reference Title 2 California Code of Regulations Section 18730 and any amendments to it duly adopted by the Fair Political Practices Commission.

Copies of the proposed Code and all of the information upon which it is based may be obtained from the Julian Charter School, Inc. administration offices at 1704 Cape Horn Drive, Julian, CA 92036. Interested in finding out more about how high school is different from middle school? If so, please join us for An Evening with a JCS Academic Counselor. Regardless of what high school you choose to attend, this informational orientation, followed by a question and answer session, provides students and parents with a) an overview of why a high school transcript is important, b) how to ensure you are prepared to enter college or the workforce after graduation, c) testing requirements at the high school level including the CAHSEE, d) specifics about the high school options at JCS, and much more.

This is the table for dates, times, and locations for the semester 2 final exams for Home Study students. Please note that there are no make up days.

The listed end times are when the students should be finishing up their exams for the day. There are no set days for subjects – students are able to come at any time (as long as they are finished by the end time listed) during any day that the exams are offered at a certain location for any exam.

Some important reminders for students taking exams – PLEASE READ!

• No cell phones allowed at all during testing.  Please have cell phone ringers silenced (or phones turned off) and put in the student’s pocket, purse, backpack.  If a proctor sees a cell phone for any reason it will be taken away and the student can get it back when they leave for the day.
• No ear phones, ear buds, music device of any kind.
• No talking during exams.  We assume that students are not talking about the exams, but talking is disturbing to those around the talkers, so please don’t do it.  If a student is talking there will be no warnings – a proctor will move the students so they are no longer together.
• Exams need to be taken in 1 sitting.  If a student is taking an exam they need to finish it before leaving for the day or taking a break.
• Students are able to take exams all in 1 day, spread out over the entire week, or a few days – whatever is best for the student.
• Students are to sit 1 person to a table until the tables are filled and then they can start doubling up.

May 7, 2012, 10:30 PM – 12:30AM

Watch the amazing journey of the California grunion, returning home to spawn where they were born! Bring your beach chair, flashlight and warm clothes. Snacks and drinks should be brought as there is no food facility. The whole family is welcome! Aquarium and gift shop open at 8:00 PM and grunion program starts at 9:00. Those events are $5/adults and $1/students. If you come for just the run, it is free. This is a protected season, so you aren’t allowed to catch/eat the grunion.

Students learn about plants, animals and human history of the reserve, seasonal changes, photosynthesis, plant life cycles, food webs, types of adaptations and area geology.  The Santa Rosa Plateau is home to more than 200 species of native birds and 49 endangered, threatened or rare animal and plant species, including mule deer, mountain lions, badgers, bobcats, western pond turtles, white-tailed kites and fairy shrimp.

Recommend Grades: 2-6
