JCS Soccer Results - Week 2

Perfect soccer weather with partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the low 70’s was the setting for Thursday’s high school soccer games in Poway. In the first contest, the San Diego Jaguars (1-1) defeated the Murrieta Hawks (1-1) by the score of 12 to 4. The Jaguars broke open a close and hard fought match in the second half. In the second game, the defending champion Alpine Coyotes (2-0) used strong defense and excellent ball control to top the San Diego Surf (0-2) by the score of 9 to 2. The final game of the day saw the San Diego Riptide (2-0) outlast the Pine Valley Pumas (0-2) by the score of 5 to 2.
On Friday at the San Diego Indoor Soccer facility the middle school participants dribbled, passed, and scored in two games of fun and sportsmanship. The Jaguars (2-0) strong offensive attack was too much for the Ligers (0-2) in their 7 to 2 victory. The Panthers (1-1) used timely offense with some strong defense as they powered past the Cougars (1-1) by the score of 9 to 6.

Orientation & Preview Day on May 14 in Murrieta: Come Plan For Your 2009-2010 Year

Orientation presentations will be held at 10 a.m., 11a.m. & 12 p.m. and are provided for families newly enrolling in Julian Charter School.
PARENT ORIENTATION for students enrolling for the 2009-2010 school year will take place May 14, 10:00 a.m.—1:00 p.m. at the Murrieta Meeting & Resource Center. The orientations will be for all grade levels. Come learn about the various opportunities JCS has to offer home study families and best practices for student success.
- Registrars will be assisting with pre-enrollment paperwork
- New families should bring
- Student’s Birth Certificate (New students only)
- Immunization Record
- Dental Assessment Form (K or 1)
- Health Checkup Form (K or 1)
- Unofficial Transcript (High school only; if available)
- Unofficial Copy of CAHSEE scores (10-12; if available)
- Copy of Current (09-10 or 08-09 school year) IEP or 504, if applicable
PREVIEW DAY for all current JCS families as well as prospective families
- K-8 Curriculum Experts will be available to discuss and show curriculum selections available for students
- Workshops and Demonstrations for Elluminate virtual classroom, Discovery Streaming, and Compass Learning

State Testing Schedule for JCS MS Academy

JCS Soccer Results - Week 1
April 19, 2009
The JCS soccer season got off to a strong start this week with two middle school and three high school games.
In the middle school division, the SD Jaguars edged the SD Panthers 8 to 6 while the SD Cougars bested the SD Ligers 8 to 5.
The high school division was initiated with a thriller as the Murrieta Hawks nipped the San Diego Surf 6 to 5. The Hawks, behind 4 to 1 in the first half, came back strong in the second half to earn the victory.
In the second game, the defending champion Alpine Coyotes topped the Pine Valley Cougars.
The final game of the day pitted the San Diego Riptide against the San Diego Jaguars. This game also came down to the wire as the Riptide outlasted the Jaguars 6 to 5.

Completed paper surveys may be returned to the San Diego Learning Center, the Murrieta Meeting and Resource Center, or mailed to the main office Julian Charter School P.O. Box 2470 Julian, CA 92036. The online survey will be open and accepting responses from April 17-30.
Parent Handbook for 2009-2010 School Year Now Available

For the 2009-2010 school year, JCS will be posting the Parent Handbook online in an effort to reduce costs for printing and mailing. Parents who wish to have a print version of the handbook can still request one through the JCS Resource Center once the handbook is finalized.

Grad Nite at Disneyland on May 28, 2009

Graduating seniors! You are invited to attend Grad Night this year at the Disneyland Resort!
- When: Thursday May 28, 2009
- Time: 9:00 p.m. Thursday evening until 6:00 a.m. Friday morning
- Price: $57.00/person
- Payment to be made prior to boarding the bus to Disneyland. Payment can be made by cash or check made payable to Julian Charter School.
- Graduating seniors may invite one guest. Participating guest is required to pay the $57 and bring a signed JCS Guest Contract.
- All JCS students must complete the Field Trip Authorization Form & Permission Slip.
- How: Two chartered buses will be departing and taking students to Disneyland. Note that students MUST ride the bus to Disneyland to participate
- One From The Murrieta Meeting & Resource Center leaving at 9:00 p.m.
- One From The San Diego Site leaving at 8:00 p.m.

Indoor Soccer Starts This Week

Indoor soccer starts this week with two middle school games and three high school games. Middle school games will be played normally on Thursday afternoons at the San Diego Indoor Soccer venue in the North Park region of San Diego. High School games will be played primarily on Friday afternoons at the North County Soccer Park in Poway.

Dear 5th & 8th grade parents,
Is your student prepared for the CST science test later this month? The K-8 Science team has put together a list of Discovery Streaming videos and terrific Jeopardy games to help your students prepare for the 5th & 8th grade tests. The team has compiled a a review that covers the 4th & 5th grade standards that will be covered on the 5th grade test. The team also put together a review of the standards that will be covered on the 8th grade test.
The Discovery Videos provide a terrific way to review and the Jeopardy game is a fun way to see how much your student understands. Upcoming Temecula Middle School Academy Fall 2009 Interest Meetings

The Middle School Academy has just moved to Temecula from Murrieta and will be holding Fall 2009 information meetings in April and May at their NEW SITE. The address to the site is 29141 Vallejo Avenue in Temecula. The meetings will be held in the Trinity Building on the first floor in classroom 3. Please call the Academy at (951) 676-5715 to reserve your seat. We look forward to meeting with you and discussing our fantastic program with you and your student(s).
